Species: | Smallmouth, Pike, Walleye, Lake Trout, Perch, Rock Bass, and Whitefish |
Description: | This is the largest of the lakes in our fishing territory. It is clear and very deep. Fishing this lake can be difficult until you get to know where the fish are likely to stage during the day and the season. The rugged shoreline changes from rocky cliff walls to riprap to flat and muddy bays. The wind can play havoc in the afternoon on this lake, raising whitecaps for a wet ride home to the island. |
Strategy: |
Ask your friendly host for advice on this lake, check out the maps. This lake is very dependent on the season and the species you are after. Hire a guide for a day to get the full tour. The clarity of the water makes Walleye fishing a challenge. Backtrolling with a Lindy Rig or drifting crawlers on a jig head over the many submerged hups early in the morning or late in the evening offers your best changes of hooking into a Bear Lake walleye. |
Things to Consider: |
Be patient. This is the easiest lake to fish, and one of the prettiest. Use this day to explore, and refresh yourself from the backlake adventures. |
